Data-pipeline and automation monitoring
Watches your workflows and data jobs, diagnoses failures and tells the right person what to fix.

The job
An agent that reads logs, run history and alerts from your automations and data pipelines, groups related failures, explains the likely cause and opens a ticket or pings the owner.
Why it is hard
- Alert noise: the agent has to separate real incidents from harmless blips.
- Root causes often span several systems, so the agent needs read access to many tools.
- It must never "fix" production by itself without a safe, reversible path.
- Silent failures (a job that did not run at all) are easy to miss.
What a good setup needs
Tools
- An automation platform with error workflows (n8n, Make, Pipedream, Activepieces)
- Log and trace access, plus tracing for any AI steps (LangSmith)
- A ticketing or chat tool for notifications (Slack, Linear, Jira)
- A schedule that checks "did it run?" as well as "did it fail?"
Guardrails
- Read-only access by default; any fix requires a person to approve it
- Rate-limit alerts and group duplicates
- Keep a runbook the agent must cite when it suggests an action
- Alert on missing runs, not only on errors
Human-in-the-loop points
- A person approves any remediation that changes data or restarts jobs
- A person is always on the escalation path for high-severity issues
- A weekly review of false alarms to tune the agent
How to start small
Start here: Begin with one critical workflow: send failure summaries to a channel and compare the agent's diagnosis to what your team found.
How to know it works: Share of alerts where the diagnosis was correct, and reduction in time to first useful response.
Bots that fit this job
Pick from the listings below. Open one for setup steps; those marked Paid have plan prices as shown by the vendor.
n8n
Visual workflow builder with AI agent nodes, so you can wire an LLM to email, sheets, CRMs and 1,500+ integrations without writing a backend.
Make
Drag-and-drop scenarios with AI modules for routing, summarizing and replying; good for multi-step back-office flows.
Pipedream
Code-friendly workflows and thousands of API integrations, plus MCP servers for agents.
Activepieces
Open-source Zapier alternative with AI steps and MCP support.
LangSmith
Tracing, evaluation and monitoring for LLM apps and agents, so you can find why an agent failed and track cost and latency.
Zapier Agents
Describe a task in plain English and an agent runs it across the thousands of apps Zapier already connects to.
Relevance AI
Build an AI workforce of agents for sales research, outreach and ops without code.

Quick answers
Can an agent fix pipeline failures automatically?
It can diagnose and suggest, but automatic fixes to production data should require approval. Start read-only and add narrow, reversible actions later.
How do I catch jobs that silently never run?
Add a check for expected runs on a schedule, so a missing run raises an alert the same way an error does.
